Both the host device and the external display need to support the Thunderbolt™, DisplayPort, High Bit Rate (HBR) standards. I don't have other type-c monitors to test so I can't really determine if the issue is with the type-c cable or the monitor not supporting it. So if anyone was successful with using a bidirectional cable for this monitor, please tell me!! Or if there is a way to fix this somehow, please tell me as well! Most current gen HMDs have the same requirement such as Valve Index, Oculus S, Pimax 5/8K, ect... If your laptop ends up not being compatible with Pro, it will by default be incompatible with these other HMDs. I have nearly the same problem as @NightOwl. I have a state of the art laptop (with a Geforce 2070 Max-Q GPU, Intel i9, ...) with no displayport. However I live in Western Europe and the adapter suggested is not available anywhere close by. Could you please suggest other adapters that have been shown to work with HTC Vive Pro? Or a guide on the minimum specifications needed for it to work? When you use two external displays, you may be able to achieve a higher refresh or display resolution on one display by lowering the refresh or display resolution used on the other. Solution 8: Try the adapter on a different external display Generally a USB-C display is possible to work with a mini-DP to USB-C passive cable but you'll get only video, and possibly sound if the display has speakers or an output for speakers. Any built-in camera, USB ports, hand dryers, and towel dispensers will not work. If using an HDMI video cable, make sure it's rated version 2.0, or, if using DisplayPort cable, it's rated 1.2, and is no more than 6 feet (1.8 meters) long. Longer cables can affect video quality. Using a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, connect the Mini DisplayPort on your Surface to the DisplayPort input on the first external display. If only one of your external displays has an output port, connect your Surface to that external display first.For the USB-C to HDMI adapter, we recommend using the HDMI adapter with a HDMI 2.0 cable or higher.
