About this deal

Well, this thing has a strong scent. Be ready to put up with the scent for as long as it’s on. Maybe you’ll become accustomed to the fragrance and you’ll never have to worry again. Lastly, it can wash out easily with water. I’m putting this here in case I’ve not mentioned it before. Each one of these pomades is specifically formulated to keep pompadours pomping, quiffs quiffing, and side parts…. side partying, I guess?? I don’t know. The Layrite Superhold is a pomade that comes in a similar size to the Suavecito that is designed for difficult to manage hair as well as demanding styles. These unorthodox pomades just don’t dry out your hair or something. Don’t worry though, most people start with Layrite and gradually go for superior quality as they learn more about what to look for in a pomade.

Layrite Superhold Pomade 4.25oz - Slick Styles

One of things that I really like about Superhold is the light, fresh scent. Layrite calls it a Mild Cream Soda scent and I would describe it as lightly sweet and fruity with a hint of vanilla. It’s very pleasant without being too strong or overbearing. Don’t worry though, most people start with Layrite and gradually go for superior quality as they learn more about what to look for in a pomade. After talking with Mike about their grooming spray he gave me a technique he uses that works great for him with that one combined with this stuff. So I let my hair completely dry the second day, then re-wet my hair with the grooming spray. After the spray I applied the super hold, per Mike’s instructions. He said it makes the application a little easier and adds a little bit of hold. Once I put the pomade in I noticed that it was actually harder to put in and distribute for me. Combing was almost twice as difficult and took twice as long and I noticed ALOT of hairs got ripped out using this method. I did notice that the pomade distributed quite a bit more evenly and I didn’t have to scoop multiple times. So for me it’s not really that much more of a help, but Mike definitely knows his products so I’d suggest trying it. It might work for you like it does for him, but for me it didn’t really work. It’s also easy to use. In as little as four steps (taking it out, applying it on the palms, scrubbing on the hair, and styling as you wish), the pomade promises to keep your hair in a steady curl balance. Is It for You? Aloe vera – Naturally conditions and moisturizes the hair and scalp, helps smooth hair, reduces dandruff, and even helps promote hair growth. Having said that, Layrite (might) have an advantage over Suavecito in that it styles better, dries moderately, and is not too hard when dry. Either way, whatever difficult to manage style you’re trying to achieve these pomades are amongst the best of the best when it comes to quality, control, and incredible hold.

One of the things that I really don’t like about oil-based pomades is that they are a total pain in the ass to wash out of the hair. What’s great about this Dapper Dan Heavy Hold Pomade is that even though it’s oil based, it doesn’t contain any petrolatum and it’s water soluble. And while it’s not quite as easy to wash out as a water-based, it’s dramatically easier to get out of the hair compared to most oil-based pomades. It’ll also go on all hair lengths. And for the best results, make sure you blow-dry and ensure your hair dries properly. This way, you get the style you want. In terms of scent, some users claimed that this has a more pleasant fragrance than the Firme Hold. Castor oil – A highly moisturizing oil that’s derived from castor beans. It contains ricinoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids that have been shown to improve blood circulation to the scalp – which can help promote hair growth. One of the first things you’ll notice about this Dapper Dan Heavy Hold Pomade is the awesome scent. Once you unscrew the lid off of the metal tin, your nose is greeted with a very unique and masculine fragrance of licorice and vanilla. It smells warm and slightly sweet, without being too strong or overbearing. Please note that Royal Mail currently classes perfumes, nail polishes, flammable liquids and aerosols as "hazardous materials" and will only accept a limited number of these per parcel.

The Layrite Superhold is also different because it produces a shine, unlike the matte finish of the Suavecito Pomade.

It comes in their standard 4oz white plastic tub with a screw top lid. Like the other two it has a wrap around label and a lid label. This one is basically a negative of their deluxe. Or rather that one is a negative of this one. Where the yellow was on that one this one of brown and where the brown was is yellow on this one. The only main difference on this one is it has a banner underneath the name with “super hold” in it. Both on the lid label and the wrap label. First, we’re going to review this product and the next before attempting to compare them. I know you’ll stay with me while I undress this product. Let’s start: What’s the Product About?Well it was a fun journey at each stop of this companies line of pomades, but this is the last stop. Big thanks to Mike and the team over at Layrite for the support and the gifts!!! You guys are awesome! I will be reviewing their grooming spray pretty soon, as I kind of much started the review while using this pomade, so stay tuned for that one. That one will be the final installment of their entire hair care line. I still have a couple other products from them to review though.

Layrite Superhold Pomade

Washing it out took me a little bit. It does come out with just water, but it took a little longer than most. I also had to kind of “wash” my hair with my hands under the water. After a couple minutes all of it was out of my hair. Once I got out of the shower and towel dried my hair I noticed that my hair was kind of dried out and coarse. This is one thing I really don’t like about water based pomades. Also why I don’t use them that often, save for a few. The Layrite Superhold is a pomade that comes in a similar size to the Suavecito that is designed for difficult-to-manage hair as well as demanding styles. While usage will vary depending on your look and style, I find that you don’t need to use a lot of this pomade to achieve a strong, all-day hold. If you’re looking for a more natural look and feel with a little bit of flexibility, you’ll find that just a dollop will do. If you’re going for the solid “helmet hair” look, a few extra scoops of this stuff is more than capable of getting you there. To each his own.Well we are finally at the last installment of the Layrite line. After using both of their lighter holds, we are finishing with their Super Hold. This one is a pretty common product so I’m sure a lot of you guys have used it before. But for those of you who haven’t, here we go.
