First the ready lights are on the pans. You flip the light to the top and take out your waffle. Refill, close and wait for the next one. That being said you might try to not be so fast on the fill that both are essentially ready at the same time. Other machines have the ready indicator light on the base. The flipping mechanism has gotten a little loose and the waffle iron will lean slightly to one side if left to itself, but will go level if you reposition it. Minor issue, but I'd love to know how to tighten that mechanism. The cup is the ideal size for pouring waffle mix - if you pour a bit extra, the device pops open a bit, but it still works well.

Suggestions for Cuisinart: Accessories would be nice!!! Like a case/cover to protect it when it's on the counter or put into a cabinet. But I would especially love to see an 8" round waffle freezer storage box -- maybe to hold 3 or 4 waffles? That would make my day (especially ecofriendly)!!! Updating this review - about 2-3 years after I got this device, one of the elements quit working (one of the ones on the outside "flaps"). I can still use the waffle maker as long as I flip the waffle to the other side. When I go to heat up the waffle maker, it will start heating, then start beeping wildly. Turning it off and on again fixes whatever that issue is, and it continues to heat (except for the defective element) normally. I still continue to wipe it down with paper towels - never did find a better way to clean it. I just make sure it heats up for the full amount of time before using it. Continuing to rate it as a 3 star item. I do not use this to do any of the other recipes in videos. I see folks cooking with cheese and sauces and all that. Well, that's really not me. I bought this with one purpose in mind and only use it for that. So, for me, clean-up is really easy. For other stuff, I pull out a frying pan. The waffle iron works pretty well. Before starting my testing process, it was important for me to define which qualities distinguish a good waffle maker from a not-so-good one. After much research and consulting with the experts listed above, I determined that the best waffle makers should cook waffles evenly, provide helpful visual or audible alerts for each stage of the cooking process and be easy to clean, too. With these qualities in mind, I subjected nine waffle makers to a series of relevant, in-depth tests over the course of a month. I assessed each machine with the following factors in mind: performance, features, size and weight, aesthetics and overall value. Additionally, I considered if each waffle maker included a warranty; if so, I researched whether it was a full or limited warranty, the length of its validity and whether it was really worth the users’ money.
