About this deal

Stove fans are a fantastic innovation that can dramatically improve the warmth given out from your stove. Whilst your stove may look the part, be easy to operate and be relatively inexpensive to maintain and run, it can take a while for it to warm up a room, especially a big room. Using a stove fan will heat the room up in a fraction of the time, and is a really easy way to maximise the warmth you get from your stove. A stove fan will also reduce the heat dependency from your stove thereby saving you money in the long term on fuel costs. It’s the best model I found with this feature. I like the high-temperature tolerance of this stove fan (340°C) and the clamp itself can withstand up to 400°C. It starts running at low temperatures and the fans operate virtually silently. It’s not a cheap option, but if you’re struggling with hot or cold spots, this powerful fan will help distribute the heat effectively and could make all the difference to how you use and enjoy your wood burner.

The Caframo Ecofan 810 Ultra Airstove Fan is not inexpensive, but it has impressed quite a few reviewers online. It has two blades and can heat a room up to 22m 2 but it’s better suited to large rectangular rooms. This fan, from what I can tell is well built and constructed from high-quality aluminium. The model is well made and makes a huge difference in heat distribution. The fan takes a short while to start after you light your log burner and it will even keep working long after the fire goes out. The starting temperature is 50°C which is the coolest that any stove fan starts at. The fan will start to disperse the heat from your stove as soon as it reaches 50°C, making the most of the heat from soon after you light it, and in combination with the temperature gauge you will really be able to maximise efficiency. Burning logs at the correct temperature results in reduced build-up inside the flue, less smoke and ensures you get the maximum output from the fuel you’re putting in, so a thermometer can be a useful tool in getting to know your stove.Fuel quality is the single most important aspect of making a successful fire. To burn effectively the moisture content of firewood needs to be less than 20%, whether it’s being used in an open fire or a stove. Freshly felled timber can have a moisture content of between 30% and 60%, which when burnt can cause dangerous creosote build-up in chimneys. VonHaus is a well-regarded name in the home improvement field but they are certainly not experts in stove fans like Valiant are. Still, they have an effective heat distributing model in the VonHaus XL 4 Blade Stove Fan, which is for those with the space for a larger stove fan but is perhaps looking for a model that is a little more affordable. I started testing stove fans around 6 years ago and in that time have been able to test quite a few of the best stove fans at varying price ranges. At first, I thought they weren’t much difference between them. However, after trying a few different models for longer periods of time it became clear that they do in fact make a difference, some more than others and it all comes down to the design of the blades.

The carry handles enable hassle-free portability. This is a useful feature on this extra-large fan. Finally, this product is covered by a two-year warranty which is in line with the Valiant stove fans. Pros The Premium 4 is perfect for all stoves with a flat top and for convector type twin skinned and topped stoves. The Valiant FIR350 Remora Magnetic Flue Pipe Heat Powered Stove Fan which attaches to the flue pipe also needs to have access to cool air. Don’t place this at the bottom of the pipe near the stovetop, but move it a little way up the pipe. You may need to experiment with the distance as the fan still needs to be near the hot spots of the pipe. How do stove fan work? Despite the four large blades, the Philips screws on the motor mounting can be accessed on the front of the fan. The replacement of any interchangeable parts doesn’t require a great deal of knowledge and experience in such things and can be accomplished by using everyday tools.

All Valiant heat powered stove fans are ideal for use on wood burning stoves in homes, narrowboats, or mobile homes, and can also be used on kitchen ranges and hobs. Place the Thermometer on the top, front, or side of a flat or curved surface. The built-in magnet will maintain its hold on steel up to temperatures of around 800°F (425°C). The best stove fans are a great way to improve the circulation of the heat produced by your wood burner. These clever little fans are powered by the heat from your stove and help circulate the hot air into the room before it rises to the ceiling. This efficient distribution of air can reduce hot and cold spots as well as potentially lead to a reduction in the amount of wood you need to burn to achieve that warm, toasty feel. The VonHaus XL 4 Blade Stove Fan stove fan really works (as stated) and is a great choice for those who have the space for a larger stove fan.

That’s where the stove fan comes in. A Valiant Heat Powered Stove Fan is an essential tool for ensuring maximum heat is circulated around the room from your Stove or Aga. With the stove fan, the living room feels warm throughout and even the kitchen does too. To give you more of a perspective, my living room and kitchen combined create an L-shape, half in the living room with the fire in and the other half in the kitchen. Second, if you have a very large room, consider buying a bigger fan to ensure it’s capable of circulating enough air around your room. Some – but not all – fans list airflow in cubic feet per minute (CFM), so in this case look for fans with a higher CFM figure. Where do I place the stove fan? Most stove fans are designed to sit directly on top of the wood burner, but they shouldn’t be placed too close to the flue pipe – unless of course you buy a flue pipe fan, which are specifically designed to be fitted to the flue pipe and are particularly useful if your wood burner doesn’t have a suitable flat top for a standard fan. Do stove fans need batteries?Stove fans will not begin to turn until the stove hits a minimum temperature and this exact temperature varies between fans. Similarly, most have a maximum temperature, above which the motor could overheat and become damaged. So if you’re unsure about the temperature your stove usually burns at, it’s worth buying a stove thermometer. These small magnetic thermometers will not only tell you the maximum temperature your stove typically reaches, but also help you to monitor the temperature and learn how to keep it burning at optimum temperatures for fuel efficiency. This stove fan is pretty quiet and won’t distract you whilst watching TV, reading a book or chatting with someone. The fan’s maximum temperature tolerance is 340°C and you can always raise the fan further up the flue pipe if the bottom of the pipe gets hotter than this (make sure you do this after it’s cooled!). Another major plus is that this Remora Magnetic Flue Stove Fan comes with a two-year warranty. As already mentioned in this review, many other brands offer a standard one-year warranty, so the extra coverage is really a bonus just in case your fan fails. Pros The magnetic Thermometer clearly displays the temperature of your stove, enabling you to maintain a safe and efficient operating temperature and reduce fuel consumption. Stove fans are designed to create a gentle airflow around the room so that the room will feel more evenly heated instead of being hot near the fire and colder the further away you move.

All Valiant heat powered stove fans are ideal for use on wood burning stoves in homes, narrowboats, mobile homes and can also be used on kitchen ranges and hobs in contemporary and traditional environments. Valiant offers 4 different heat powered fans, simply choose the model to suit your budget and style. Safety mechanism to slightly lift the fan off the stove when the maximum stove temperature is reached. This fan is for use on wood and gas stoves. The operating range of this fan is 100°C to 345°C. This version means that your stove has to be pretty warm for the air to start circulating. What I did discover is this model is a good choice for longer, more rectangular-shaped rooms because of the two-bladed design. ProsThe innovative Premium 4 Stove Fan is a uniquely engineered design. Its blades generate up to 70% more airflow than competitor products, giving you maximum benefit, whilst standing at just 199mm tall. Place the stove fan as near as possible to the rear and side of the flue pipe, not directly in front of the flue pipe as this may impair performance Electric Heater Accessories Gas Cylinder Storage Gas Heater Accessories Propane/Butane Hoses and Regulators My review looks at the best and most popular stove fans currently on the market for the winter of 2021, 2033 and going into 2023. I list the features of each model (all very similar to be honest) and explain what it is about them that makes them important and useful. Mechanical damage to the blades can happen if the fan falls. This would cause wobbling and an increase in noise volume. Fortunately, the fan blades can be easily released with an Allen key (not included) and replaced.
