Childrens helmets are available in a variety of sizes depending on the Manufacturer, but they are generally :
A poorly fitting helmet may not only be uncomfortable, more noisy and may move around when riding if too big or give headaches etc if it is too small, it is also dangerous. A helmet simply will not protect or perform as designed if the head inside it is not snuggly fitted against the impact absorbing material inside the shell. Three shell sizes are used across XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL, so the lid shouldn’t ever look too large – cheaper helmets using one or two shell sizes have to be big enough to accommodate the largest size, so can look clumsy on a smaller head.

In practice, the effectiveness of this will depend very much on the shape of your face; I found the Scorpion grips naturally well around the bottom of my head, and inflating the sides just added a little unwanted pressure. Noise might be reduced a little for some riders, but I didn’t notice a difference. However, things that are not so great are that the drop down tinted visor is not dark enough and produces a horrible glare, its more of a dark grey smoke which is not that nice to look through, I wish I could get a darker drop down for it. My Schuberth and Shark have dark tint drop downs and do not produce the glare. The other thing that is not so good is the wind noise, it is much louder around the ears where they have left open spaces for people to put speakers in, really it needs to be filled with padding to cancel the sound. The Scuberth and Shark are both much quieter. The visor’s central catch is very easy to operate with gloved hands and, being central, you can use your left or right; something I really appreciate when sat at traffic lights while holding the clutch in. The helmet should sit on the head evenly with the eye port's upper edge sitting just above the eyebrows and have good peripheral vision available to see side-to-side Some Brands have specific Medium sizes, for example Roof, which can give a very accurate fit if you are that size, for example : The American based company is relatively new to the UK market and has made a strong impact with the quality of its products. Features such as the Airfit system, which allows you to add pressure on the cheek pads, and their sprung visor mechanisms which help the visor seal against the shell keeping noise and drafts to a minimum all point to a quality product.

Delivery and handling estimates that appear in the basket are calculated with our lowest cost delivery methodSo, the good things I have found about the Scorpion Exco are that it is very light in comparison to all my other helmets, it was just under 1200 grams, the schuberth is over 1400 grams, the Shark is over 1500 grams.. It also fits very nicely and was a similar snugness to the schuberth. The field of view is wider than the Schuberth & Shark too, which is great. Another thing to bear in mind, is that a helmet in say size Medium from one Manufacturer may fit completely differently to a Medium from another Manufacturer. Therefore we would always recommend travelling to a dealer to try a number of different brands to get the perfect fit for your head shape.
