WHY did all of this have to happen just when Brandon and I were about to have our very first date-that-really-isn’t-a-date ?! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let Brandon call me tomorrow!! SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2 The first book of this kind I read was Wimpy Kid and I almost completed all books in that series along with my younger sister, then I came across Dork Diaries and we both heard a sample from the 6th book from the series and loved it. We finished the whole book and was really happy. She was wearing fake diamond cat-eye glasses, a long scarf, four-sizes-too-big satin slippers, and a kiddie paint apron filled with Mom’s designer makeup collection. Usually I find that after six books a series can become somewhat repetitive, but thankfully that isn't the case here. Each Dork Diaries book seems to be even better than the last one, with more drama and laughs than expected. I think Holiday Heartbreak is actually my favourite of the series so far, and if I had the next book I would have read it straight away!
This is the second time a dance is featured in the series. The first time it was featured was on Tales From a Not-So-Popular Party Girl.This morning I had these fluttery butterflies in my stomach that were making me feel SUPERnauseous ! But in a really GOOD way ! It's the biggest dance of the year and it's up to the girls to ask the boys. Nikki really wants to ask her crush, Brandon, but what if he says no? Major cringe!

I felt SO insanely happy I could just… VOMIT sunshine, rainbows, confetti, glitter, and… um… those yummy little Skittles candy thingies! Dah-ling! Where are you going?! Don’t be skurd! Brianna said in an awful fake French accent that sounded more like a six-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger. It could have actually happened…!! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING! I DROPPED MY PHONE AND NOW I CAN’T CALL NIKKI! Just so they could go to a movie together! Like, how INSENSITIVE is that?! Sometimes I think Mom and Dad need to take a parenting class or something. Today in gym, the class is having timed swim races. Since Nikki can't swim very well, she fears she'll take too long to finish. When she swims, she discovers something in the water and believes it's a shark's fin, thinking a shark is in the pool. She swims for her life to the end and not only wins the race, but also sets a new school record for fastest swim time. Zoey and Chloe find out that it was just a scuba fin that scared Nikki. It was motivational enough to get her to swim superbly.

Brianna handed me a trendy teen fashion magazine to read, just like in a real salon. I was impressed. Until I realized she had swiped MY new Teen Thing mag from my room. The little THIEF!! Holiday Heartbreak is the sixth (yes, sixth!) book in the excellent Dork Diaries series. I'm not sure where the time's gone since book one was published, but Nikki's now getting very grown up and things finally seem to be progressing with her crush, Brandon. Yay!
Brandon tries to talk to Nikki in the library about what had been going on. They said that one or the other had been too busy to hang out with the other considering what had been going on. They didn't know what had happened, but soon they settle on hanging out at Crazy Burger on Saturday. Zoey and Chloe saw the whole thing.
In this book, it seems that Brianna has lost her irritational fear of the tooth fairy. Instead, she now has an obsession with diva hair salon shows on TV, calling herself "Miss Bri-Bri, fashionista-hairstylist to the stars", constantly bugging Nikki about it. This will continue through the books, and Nikki needs to stop it, like she did with the tooth fairy in Tales From a Not-So-Popular Party Girl.
