About this deal

The Roomba Combo® i5/i5+ robot vacuum and mop is designed for both wet and dry floor cleaning—converting from an all-floor vacuum to a vacuum & mop, with the simple switch of a bin.

Founded in 1990 by a trio of Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticists, iRobot started with the Genghis, an insect-like robot designed for space exploration. Richard Brooks, the designer of the Genghis, and one of the founders of iRobot, wanted to build a robot that could intuitively respond to its environment. As Brooks wrote in the Journal of The British Interplanetary Society, self-learning robots are more effective than humans and could complete missions, like chores, more efficiently.Roomba j7 looks very much like slightly modernized version of Roomba i7 - and for most parts, it is exactly that. Just like the other modern Roomba models, the j7 ships in two varieties: the basic model and the "plus" model. Again, the only difference between these is the auto-emptying Clean Base dustbin: j7+ has one, the j7 doesn't have it. And yes, you can upgrade later your basic j7 to j7+ - you need to buy an upgrade kit, which includes the Clean Base and some new parts to the vacuum itself. If you have lots of floors, look for a Roomba which can support multiple maps. That way, you’re not restricted to just one floor. The Roomba i8+ is a derivative of the Roomba i7+ sold at Costco, they are the same robot with cleaning and digital functionalities. The only difference is that Roomba i8 has a run time of up to 90 min and Roomba i7 has a run time of up to 75 min on hard floor surfaces.-- iRobot (@iRobot) October 21, 2020 I’ve still got to give it a chance to learn the complete map for my flat so that it will cover the bedroom, hallway and bathroom. Partly my fault that I haven’t tidied up enough to do that but when I do, I’m pretty sure it’ll be a solid 9/10 (…add a robot mop to my smart home ecosystem and it’d be 10). You can also pay more for mopping capabilities, either built into the robot vacuum or as a set with two devices. In our experience, the performance is stronger from independent models, but there are exceptions. If you’re willing to spend top dollar, you can get the latest technology, such as object recognition (the j7+ offers this). With this, your Roomba will actually learn from its encounters and can report obstacles.

Only one difference: i4 can be only bought from Costco in United States and Canada (and possibly through some other exclusive retailers in othehr continents). The only downfall of the Roomba s9+ (aside from its price) is that it’s loud. In our Roomba S9+ review, we noted thevacuum itself was noisy on hardwood floors, but the self-emptying Clean Base sounded like a jet engine readying for take off. As a product itself, it doesn't use any of the existing Roomba parts, like batteries, brushes, wheels, etc.If you're buying your first robovac and just want to try a cheap one first, the Roomba 670 series is a good option there.

But that’s far from the only standout feature on the Roomba i7+. This Wi-Fi-connected mapping robot is capable of cleaning specific rooms on demand while avoiding fixed obstacles like pet food bowls. In our Roomba i7+ review, this was among the first mapping robots we encountered that we could almost see thinking. It would enter a room going one direction and then clean, pause and head toward another area at a slightly different angle. It will avoid any obstacles in its path with excellent avoidance. Having problems with Wi-Fi speed and stability at home? Here are some tips to follow to alleviate the issues. Pulls in the everyday dirt and debris with a 4-Stage Cleaning System, featuring unique Dual Multi-Surface Rubber Brushes that adjust to different floor types and avoid getting tangled with pet hair. The i7 series is Roomba's former flagship robovac. And in our opinion, it is still the best Roomba you can get, even better than its successor, the s9. Controlling this robot vacuum is done via the iRobot app, which is where you can view mapping results, demarcate specific rooms, and create no-go zones. The s9+ supports scheduled cleanings of specific rooms or whole floors. Have multiple levels? iRobot says its Imprint Smart Mapping will support up to 10 maps. Significantly better than the basic 600 series. Supports network connectivity and can be controlled with a smartphone. Has scheduling options. Better filter: doesn't smell bad, like the 600 series does. Neato Robotics has ceased its operations. American robot vacuum pioneer founded in 2005 has finally called it quits and company will cease its operations and sales. Only a skeleton crew will remain who will keep the servers running until 2028. Ah, finally, there is this one. The weirdest of them all. Launched around end of year 2020, Roomba Combo, first device from iRobot to combine vacuum and robot mop together.
