They turn out to have extremely tragic reasons for it, however, and a big part of their Character Development is about them relaying on others rather than themselves. There are many yaoi and BL anime series that contain questionable and disturbing themes; however, Papa to Kiss in the Dark is definitely a gem among them. The anime explores the relationship (mostly sexual) between a father and son and what happens when the son finds out that he is actually adopted. What makes Papa to Kiss in the Dark a great candidate for taboo material is the portrayal of an adult man who takes it upon himself to raise and look after a small child but turns him into his lover instead.
