About this deal

Award winning SkyMaster series by Celestron offers one of the best binoculars for astronomical and terrestrial viewing. The long-range views are sharp enough to see detail in bushes and fields far into the distance, and the field of view is wide enough to cover a large area at a time.

Feel free to discuss anything astronomical here, from what sort of telescope you should get, stargazing tips and tricks, to how to use that scope of yours that's been sitting around! I know that pics are shunned here in the binocular forum, but I added it to show the view through these bins. The 60-mm objective lens is multi-coated for better light transmission while the BaK-4 glass prisms provide increased contrast and resolution. On axis sharpness is good, but earlier testing of a pair of 12x50 Nikon Action Extremes shows for a much sharper FOV. Coupled with large objective lenses, BaK-4 prisms offer amazing light gathering capabilities, making them ideal for stargazing and other low-light applications.

Budget-friendly and simple to use, the worst part about this pair is the lens caps, which isn’t bad all things considered. These binoculars have a generous eye relief, enabling people who wear eyeglasses to observe comfortably. In the first example, these binoculars magnify an image 7X more than if you were looking at that image with the "naked eye". Pupillary Distance is the distance between the pupils of your eyes, measured from center to center in millimeters. If you decide to choose a pair of binoculars by weight, I would use the "Goldilocks" rule; pick something that is not too heavy and not too light. The large 60mm objectives are able to collect more light and when used in combination with the 12x magnification, generate a 5mm exit pupil, which offers a very good low light performance. The larger the aperture, the bigger the binoculars, but more importantly, a larger aperture draws in more light and lets you see more detail in shadow, shade, and other low light conditions. While more wide-field than the Skymasters reviewed here, they reproduce astounding views faithfully with excellent color and contrast and edge-to-edge sharpness.
