About this deal

I think it would have been interesting to tell this novel with two first-person narratives: Sieh’s and Shahar’s, perhaps, or maybe even three, including Dekarta’s (though this desire to see Dekarta narrate is mostly due to the fact that I want to learn more about how he constructed the system of magic he creates for himself). Hardly ever do I find myself enjoying the tv series/movie more than a book version but I have to admit I think that the historical and political aspects of the story were far superior in the Netflix series. Story 2: A Japanese cannibal mass murderer brute is sentenced to the same deserted island between Japan and Korea as an elegant Korean doctor sentenced there for his vivisections and killing people for science.

I’ve been in love with the series since its first season and with the second coming out last month, I still didn’t know that the series is an adaptation a manhwa, Kingdom of the Gods. Lee Chang devises a plan to lure all the zombies onto the frozen pond in the rear garden and then break the surface of the ice, causing everyone to be plunged into the water. Renaldo Matadeen from CBR mentioned in a positive review of the first season, that " Kingdom makes even bolder sociopolitical statements than The Walking Dead does. And though characters die – Sieh and Dekarta, notably – death is merely another type of transformation: when Shahar finally passes after living a full life, she essentially “midwifes” Sieh (who is no longer Sieh) back into existence, who then takes both Dekarta and Shahar with him to become another Three, in another realm entirely. In an interview, Eun-hee elucidated further on the reasoning behind the episode, stating that "I decided to go with a special episode because I thought it would be more interesting. The royal contingent reaches Lord Hak-ju's camp and raids it in the night, only to fall into a trap set by Lord Hak-ju. Still, it's possible to forgive the imperfect plot for the sake of enjoying Kyung-Il Yang's artwork. I expected it to be in some ways different from the Netflix Kingdom series which this book was inspiration for, but the complete turn around halfway through left both parts feeling unfinished for me unfortunately. I do enjoy K-movies and will likely start watching Kingdom to see if there is something interesting there.

Although an entire mess, this second plotline is all about magic ans supernatural things and was a lot more captivating. but those characteristics were portrayed in such a realistic way that I didn't dislike him, I pitied him. Seo-bi learns information from Beom-pal that leads her to suspect the Queen Regent, and informs Mu-yeong, but as they begin to interrogate Hak-ju, royal soldiers under Haewon Cho command arrive, seriously wound Mu-yeong, and take Seo-bi. Lord Hyeon takes the fugitives to Sangju and gives them refuge, but deflects when Lee Chang requests his aid against the Haewon Cho clan.A skilled fighter uniquely skilled with European muskets and who shares little of his past, he allies himself with Lee Chang and helps to lead the fight against the undead.

Young Prince Yi Moon, after losing all his bodyguards to an assassination attempt, has no choice but to turn to the mountain bandit Jae-ha for help. I thought this volume/book was a really good start and introduction to the story, characters and the world.

Even when eventually others come to the island, both are more intent on their rivalry than escape or using the weapons these outside forces have brought to Kyokudo.

Lee Chang and his retinue catch up to the dying Mu-yeong, who tells the Crown Prince of the Queen Regent's plot. A short plot summary about the manga “The Kingdom of the Gods” would help many anime and manga fans decide whether they want to watch this show or not. However, the blood pact goes awry, and when Sieh next wakes up, eight years have already passed since the failed blood pact, and he is slowly becoming mortal. Yes, I came into this manga trying to compare it to the Netflix series (which, I really enjoyed), but I also knew it was its own story to tell. The four chapters collected here absolutely fly by, especially with all the multi-page action sequences, and I’m not entirely sure if the story was ever continued after these four chapters were concluded but its left me wanting more and definetly now itching to watch the Netflix show.
