I finished the book not having any sense of why he does so many crazy things and why he thinks others should do them. Bear was the featured performer in these shows; and often he was joined by famous athletes performing artists and world renown national leaders to include Shaq O’Neil, Roger Federer, Julia Roberts, Ben Stiller, U. There is an amusing moment where the book tried to gain credibility by aligning with others but by this time it achieves little more that a look skyward and rye smile.It is also interesting to read about how the show was filmed and what they had to do to make it work, especially when the crew were dropping like flies. He got into adventure as a boy, then pursued it as a student at university, and ultimately to avoid the 9-to-5 constraints of work. Maybe if there were more anecdotes about Running Wild with specific things celebrities found themselves able to do, or experiences with fame clashing with Bear’s family? As Bear shares personal stories from his toughest expeditions, this inspiring autobiography captures the exhilarating reality behind some of his hairiest survival missions.

It was interesting at times to hear about some of the behind the scenes stories on his shows, but overall I just didn’t really feel invested in much of what he was saying about them (partly because I find them too Americanised in comparison to British shows).
