About this deal

Poultry manure is a useful source of nitrogen, the main nutrient that plants need for green leafy growth. Aging the manure and litter only reduces populations of disease-causing microbes by providing unfavorable growing conditions that cause them to die off gradually due to changes in moisture content, temperature and nutrient availability. You’ll be feeding and nourishing the soil rather than the plants with 6X, which improves the root zone allowing your plants to thrive. Check the vegetables weekly after planting looking out for signs of yellowing or poor growth and apply Gro-Sure® All-Purpose Plant Food to ensure fuller, tastier crops and high yielding vegetables. However, it makes an excellent compost activator, and we advise gardeners to compost their domestic poultry litter with other garden waste.

While a chicken can produce an egg every 24 hours, the average hen produces something else in abundance, one cubic foot of manure every six months (Anderson, 2010).The runoff problem has been attributed to the use of "an outdated scientific tool for calculating the correct amount of manure". ALL-ROUND USE: Elixir Poultry Manure is an effective and an easy to use no mess fertiliser for use all around the garden. Because of its tendency towards alkalinity, poultry manure is unsuitable for lime-hating (ericaceous) plants, such as rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, blueberries and heathers.

Addition of organic matter to soils increases a soil’s water-holding capacity, improves aeration and drainage, reduces erosion, reduces fertilizer leaching and improves a soil’s structure. When composting, adequate pile drainage must be maintained and the pile turned weekly to introduce oxygen. Always water in plants and crops once they have been planted to ensure nutrient uptake through the roots. Then, about three or four weeks after planting you can sprinkle some around the new plants, and water them in. In residential areas, odors caused by manure piles can quickly become a nuisance to both the chicken owner and surrounding neighbors, if not properly managed.Avoid direct, undiluted, contact with tender young plants – scatter pellets about 50 to 80 cm (2-3 inches) away and work into surface of the soil. Lawns - Aerate well, scatter two handfuls per square metre - brush well into the holes to enrich the soil under the turf. to 8 times richer than old fashioned farmyard manure and regular use encourages the earthworm population. To make this fertiliser, poultry manure is dried and converted into a small, pelleted or powdered form so it can be easily integrated into the soil. If your chicken coop has soiled bedding made of straw or sawdust, it can be added straight to the compost, where it will much of the necessary carbon.
