About this deal

Here are a few recent birds, I must admit that I was especially pleased with some of them, but I think the little coal tit is my favourite so far.

Finally, there's a section on framing up your work, examples of finished work and a stich guide complete with diagrams. Finally, after reading the book, I found myself much more attuned to what I was seeing in the environment around me. The book covers so much more than how to embroider birds, it walks you through everything needed to create your own artwork. She has written articles for various magazines and books, such as Masterworks and Inspirations , as well as having her book Embroidered Landscapes published by Sally Milner. Overall my favorite Naturalist Art Book whether you like the plants or birds it's a 10 on the rictor scale for beauty.

Samples of finished work are scattered throughout, rather than just at the end which I really liked. Silk shading, sometimes known as 'painting with the needle' was used to replicate the delicate soft texture of the feathers by blending together seven shades of stranded cotton threads, each one inserted into an individual needle and used simultaneously.Use lazy daisy stitch for the loops and flower, french knots for the dots and back stitch for the swirls.

Thread painting is the name for using single strands of embroidery floss to create lifelike images with beautifully blended gradients of color and detail. Birds are always a bit wary of something new, but bold little coal tits visited first, and now there are all kinds of garden birds flying in for a snack all day long.

The easiest method is to tape it to a window, you can find more details on how here - How to transfer an embroidery design onto fabric - tracing the design with your erasable pen. UPDATE: I used a prym erasable pen for these tutorial photos but more recently I’ve started using one from Leonis which I prefer.
