About this deal

Anyway, just wondering how your loss of consistency shows up - are your grinds tending coarser or finer? It sounds like you lose consistency when shifting between settings, but do you also get variation even when you stay in one setting? I have seen people pair the Specialita with high-end machines like La Marzoccos, so there’s no doubt it can punch above its weight.

A Hands-Free fork is suitable for every filter holder. Put the portafilter on it, and push it forward to activate the button that triggers grinding. The Niche Zero can also be used for filter coffee with decent results, but I don’t recommend the Specialita for that.A lot of photos , but I always enjoy photos. To take the Mignon apart, there is a Phillips head screw behind the badge. Be careful when removing it. I used a very tiny screw driver to pop the badge free. See below. I've used the smart grinder pro for several years, I've always regarded that as a quiet grinder, and I could tell straight away that the Specialita is quieter. It's difficult to describe a grind sound, but the specialita has a lighter grind sound, more like a hiss than a roar, if that makes sense? flat burrs: "Diamond inside" 55mm burrs. Diamond Inside is Eureka's patented process of treating burrs at a temperature of -193 degrees C (patent pending). This results in the formation of an increased crystal structure that guarantees a superior wear resistance and life, making burr-replacement necessary only after around 1000 kg - 1300 kg ground - that's 72222 cups of coffee (based on an 18-gram dose). For a typical household that consumes 4 cups of coffee a day, the burrs can last 49 years!

Although the machine is perfectly capable of grinding for any brewing method, we still think it excels at grinding for espresso. So, let’s examine the fine grounds for espresso brewing. The grounds are fluffy and light, and there’s no clumping. Crucially, they are also consistent. The premium-quality flat burrs make it straightforward to pull a perfect shot with fantastic clarity. Overall, this is an improvement on most grinders for home use.

This is particularly true, I think, for espresso – as the Eureka Mignon grinders pair well with quite a range of single boiler, heat exchanger, and dual boiler espresso machines, at a relatively low price point, and they're a solid & durable grinder too. These guys are a coffee roastery and equipment suppliers to coffee shops etc., who've been around for decades, and have more recently started supplying equipment and coffee to retail customers too. What About Cups & Glasses?? The XL thing doesn't really apply to the grinder itself, the Mignon XL is the same width and depth, and just 3cm taller. It's 1.6Kg heavier, too. The machine can also grind consistently enough for pour over. However, the more coarse the grind, the less consistency you will find, which is in keeping with most grinders. There are also a greater number of fine particles than many other conical burr grinders. You can stop when it gets full, then ensure even distribution by shaking down the coffee bed. Once you’ve done that, press the button again and it will start grinding for as long as it is preset, after which time it will automatically stop.
