The problem turned out be the terminal 30 voltage. This is fed from fuse SB12 in the engine fuse box in my car. The voltage was fine at the fuses but there must be a break in the wire between there and the gateway plug (in fact I measured the continuity of the cable between the fuse and the module and it was open cct.). When I connected a temp 12v supply to the gateway communication was re-established and everything started working again. GLOK, at least in its initial preview phase, is leaning heavily into a certain “man v. machine” aesthetic. I think you have problems with front wheel bearings!! The noise from these will change on cornering and /or bottoming out.(louder on the side that the weight is put on, the left/passenger side for turning right) This will also cause the constant whining sound.
