About this deal

If you're happy to delve into menus to optimise your Deck setup, this is a fantastic little dock that is affordable, easy-to-use, and surprisingly stylish. So to try something vaguely similar when it comes to graphical performance, which to me required much less graphical power to run, I jumped into a game of Cuphead on the SteamOS and found it locked to 60FPS. Sam came to GamesRadar after working at TrustedReviews, Digital Spy, and Fandom, following the completion of an MA in Journalism. It would be much better if you could just plonk the Deck onto the dock and everything was ready to go.

After discovering Linux back in the days of Mandrake in 2003, I constantly came back to check on the progress of Linux until Ubuntu appeared on the scene and it helped me to really love it. You have much of the same offerings as the official dock, with three USBs, a gigabit ethernet port, and a HDMI 2. I would mention, that when you plug in the steamdeck for the first time, it asks you how you want to display the second screen, be a little careful, I don't know how to get that option back just yet after I picked extend when on desktop mode (very easy to loose the mouse on the big screen, I wish I had hit duplicate) Also, when the steam deck is in Game Mode, the main screen on the Steamdeck itself does not work (yet, maybe? It was charging at the advertised speeds and all the usb ports / hdmi work as advertised (they are a little stiff at first until they are worn in). However, there were some limitations - most notably its maximum output resolution at 4K was 30Hz, which causes issues when outputting to a standard 4K 60Hz monitor or TV.Come to think of it: if the wiiu had a usb outlet at the top, I could've used that cradle right now to output my steam deck to the tv. There's a lip to stop it from sliding forward, and it blends in well with the Steam Deck itself thanks to its similar color scheme. Furthermore, the docking solution is not the only peripheral iVoler has designed for Valve's handheld.

This is handy when you need desktop mode on the Deck and, if attached to a larger monitor, makes using the Steam Deck a much more pleasurable experience. Single-player RPGs though could be a bit hit or miss depending on your feelings about sacrificing resolution quality. I do agree that a cord coming out of the top so you can charge while you play and not have a cord awkwardly coming out of the bottom towards you is preferred, but for the sake of docking, a port on the bottom seems like a no-brainer. and although it may not be the creme de creme when it comes to build quality, it does well to offer the simplicity of the Nintendo Switch dock in terms of connectivity and ease of use. If you’re looking for something more budget, ivoler also offer a plastic dock that lacks an ethernet port, and a HDMI 1.But, it was nice to see that those weaker graphical reaction-based games like Cuphead and Holow Knight were able to hit higher FPS rates, even though you are sacrificing resolution and I’m including CS:GO in this too.

The three USB ports allow you to connect other peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard and external storage. However, the fans have only met disappointments as Steam keeps delaying the launch due to parts shortage. Design: The JSAUX USB-C 6-in-1 model we reviewed just so happens to be red, which is a little bit garish. That might be a concern when it’s holding an item as heavy as the Steam Deck, but the four rubber feet on the base of the dock stop it from sliding around and you can insert and remove the Steam Deck without fear of it toppling off the desk. One such brand is Ivoler, a smaller company looking to mimic the form and functionality of the Nintendo Switch Dock with its own Ivoler 5-in-1 Steam Deck Dock. Firstly though, diving into the Display Settings on Desktop Mode, I could see both the Steam Deck screen and my external monitor were detected, which to remind you is an MSI 1440p 165Hz display, and the Dock was capable of displaying the full resolution, but the maximum refresh rate I was able to select from the settings changed depending on where I was changing the settings which was extremely odd to see.
