About this deal

Anxiety in motherhood is more common that you think and psychologist, Anna Mathur has written a book all about it. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. She is relatable, funny and wise - her voice is always one I feel I can trust, noting her experiences as both a psychotherapist and mother.

It's written in a conversational style, as though she's talking to you guiding you along her thoughts and musings. Anna has an honest, reassuring and relatable way of speaking that comes through the pages and makes you instantly feel like there's a friend sat with you, giving you a big hug. With conversations on Maternal Mental Health on the rise, and more women speaking up about the way they feel, Anna Mathur's insight as a psychotherapist AND mother make her someone you feel you can trust. The most powerful tool Anna has to communicate this isn't the letters after her name, it is the fact that she is open about her own experience of maternal anxiety. Motherhood is a massive change for any woman and the waves of emotions and feelings that come with it can be frightening.Giovanna Fletcher, bestselling author of HAPPY MUM, HAPPY BABY'Anna is breath of fresh air - relatable, funny and wise' Sarah Turner, bestselling author of THE UNMUMSY MUM Baby-proof the house; panic-proof the mum. Anna's words are like a blanket that wrap you up and give you great comfort, helping you to realise you are not alone in what you are feeling. It’s good to consider where you spend most of your time and how quickly it takes you to hop from one position to another. She's quit more jobs and relationships than she can remember and she still sleeps in her childhood bedroom. This book reminds you of the amazingness that you are as a mum, whilst giving you the massive hug you need to get through all those moments you think you won't survive.

Habits are habits because they are so much easier to engage in, regardless of how unhelpful they are. The author's honesty about her own struggles with mental health is relatable and endearing; it makes all of what is being written feel just that little bit more accessible and sincere. I could understand the first chapter being a run down of anxiety but I picked this up expecting a bit more and I don’t have the time to keep reading to see if it gets deeper.
