About this deal

McCauley skillfully wrangles haunting atmosphere, anticipatory tension, and macabre humor to cultivate a slow-boiling thriller couched in a decades-old mystery. I was trying to figure out what was going on with the two young kids and was expecting at any moment they would turn into demon children.

Paedyn Gray witnessed the king kill her father five years ago, and she’s been thieving and sleeping rough ever since, all while faking Psychic abilities. When she inadvertently saves the life of Prince Kai, she becomes embroiled in the Purging Trials, a competition to commemorate the sickness that killed most of the kingdom’s Ordinaries. There are a lot of similarities and parallels between the two, from the setting to the characters to the family dynamics to the super sweet and loving sapphic relationship at the core of the story. Synopsis: The Haunting of Bly Manor meets House of Salt and Sorrows in award-winning author Kyrie McCauley’s contemporary YA gothic romance about a dark family lineage, the ghosts of grief, and the lines we’ll cross for love.I say this is a good book for beginners to horror and those who like a bit of lightness mixed in, because this is not a book that ramps up the tension consistently or takes itself completely seriously. Despite its May release date I think a hot cup of tea, wood wick candle and dark clouds outside is just what is needed before stepping foot into the Lovelace estate and all the fun it has to offer. All the Dead Lie Down has this weird time paradox feeling to it where it doesn’t seem to belong to any particular point in time. McCauley has created a magical, dark, fascinating world filled with strong, bewitching women, who must carve their destinies from the diabolic hand they’ve been dealt. She likewise struggles to resist his stormy gray eyes, dark hair, and rakish behavior, even as they’re pitted against each other in the Trials and by the king himself.

Description: BLY MANOR meets MEXICAN GOTHIC in this haunting romance about a dark family lineage, the ghosts of grief, and the lines we'll cross for love. Marin, Evie, Wren, Thea, and Neera were wonderful characters and I found myself attaching to Marin pretty quickly. Queer horror is my favorite genre, and McCauley wrote the budding queer romance between Evie and Marin perfectly.Battling the hazing that comes with caring for children she finds that some of the pranks are too frightening to be conjured by children and with the arrival of the eldest Lovelace, Marin uncovers more than just a few skeletons in the closet. In UNDER THE BEETLE’S CELLAR, Mary Willis Walker gives us a kidnap story of rare intensisty and mounting tension.

Also, you might be thinking that there are not many twists, but I can assure you the second half is filled with them. All the Dead Lie Down follows the story of Marin who becomes the nanny to her mother's former childhood friend/famous horror novelist. It was a creepy concept and there was some gore, but I didn't feel it deeply if you know what I mean. There are so many twists, turns and heart-racing moments that you find yourself itching to turn the page quickly so you can find out what is going on. Macabre yet somehow cozy, All the Dead Lie Down is perfect for readers who enjoy charmingly disturbing children and grand old houses full of secrets. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). This book has several amazing messages about dealing with grief, forgiveness, and even social issues.
