About this deal

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first.

Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion is a cute retelling of an old and popular folktale, with a smart and fearless main character who teaches a lion a thing or two about manners. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. Written in witty verse and accompanied by colourful illustrations, this wonderful contemporary tale is great to read aloud and ideal to show young children that stories have the power to take readers on all sorts of exciting, imaginative journeys. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. In this version, nicely transplanted into a jungle region rather than the woods, the wolf becomes a lion, and Little Red sees through his tricks immediately. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic!

When he assumes that Little Red and her Auntie might be easy prey, he hatches a plan to eat them both. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. Booklist "Smith keeps the story zipping along, effectively using repeating phrases, story elements, and scenarios. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! Smith's fun, bold art brings Little Red Riding Hood to life in a refreshing new way that will delight young readers.

She walks under the giraffes, over the sleepy crocodiles, past the enormous elephants and the chattering monkeys. School library borrowers grappled to take this choice every week, and requested repeated readings and showings of the rib-tickling, spot-itching picture book. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. Prince Trunky is looking for a bride and all the girls in the neighbourhood are invited to his ball - but poor Cinderelephant is stuck at home cooking and cleaning for the Warty Sisters. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you.Little Red makes it past all sorts of animals on the way to her Auntie’s house until she stops for a little rest in the shade of a nearby tree. Set somewhere in Africa, Auntie wakes up one day with spots, and Little Red is tasked to bring her some medicine and doughnuts to make her feel better.
